Ripe currants and berries, tinged with mild coffee and a hint of spice. Medium-bodied with good acidity keeping it all fresh. Surprisingly little tannin presence. A little short in the end. Still, it’s fresh and fruity. Drink now.

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon 100%

Vineyard: Located on the sunny side of the hill of Pulignano, it overlooks the Etruscan archaeological site of Montereggi. The vineyard is managed with passion and care to select the best Cabernet Sauvignon grape. The soil is rich in sandstone, skeleton and galestro which give the wine great structure, depth and aromatic intensity.

Planting Year: 1970

Number of bottles: 3.150

Density per hectare: 4.500 p/ha

Yield per hectare: 40 quintals

Vine training system: Spurred Cordon

Vinification: The grapes are manually collected, with double sorting of the bunches in the field and in the cellar. They are then introduced into steel tanks through gravity and vinified at a controlled temperature of 25/28°. Here, for a period varying from fifteen to twenty days, the alcoholic fermentation and the maceration of the skins take place, during which are carried out only gentle punch-downs. After malolactic fermentation in steel, a period of ageing in wood follows.

Maturation an ageing: Eight months in French oak barrels of 225L followed by six months of ageing in large 25 hectolitre barrels of French oak.

Tasting notes: Solid and deep, like the roots of Villa Bibbiani in the Tuscan land, Montereggi IGT has a very intense ruby red colour. A complex nose of spices combined with hints of roasted coffee and cocoa. In the mouth, it is pervasive and gives long lasting flavour, with silky and vibrant tannins. With great personality and high potential for ageing, it is a genuine expression of a Cabernet Sauvignon that has found its perfect home in Tuscany.
