Cherries and berries on the nose, with a whiff of oak cask. Mediumbodied with clean, bright fruit and minimal tannin. Turns quite steely at the end. Drink now.

Grape Variety: Sangiovese 100%

Vineyard: Villa Bibbiani field, all around the villa and Treggiaia field. From 50 to 200 meters on the level of the sea, to catch all the wonderful shades of Sangiovese, depending on the composition of the soil.

Planting Year: 1990-1999

Number of bottles: 12,000

Density per hectare: 5000 p/ha

Yield per hectare: 40 quintals

Vine training system: Spurred Cordon

Vinification: The grapes are manually collected, with double sorting of the bunches in the field and in the cellar. They are then introduced into steel tanks through gravity and vinified at a controlled temperature of 25/28°. Here, for a period varying from fifteen to twenty days, the alcoholic fermentation and the maceration of the skins take place, during which are carried out only gentle punch-downs. After malolactic fermentation in steel, a period of ageing in wood follows.

Maturation an ageing: A part of it ages 8 months in 25hL casks of Slavonian oak, the remaining in steel tanks and Tuscan Amphoras.

Tasting notes: Harmonious, balanced and with a long silky end, our Chianti Montalbano wants to be the most characteristic expression of this side of Tuscany. This wine has a bright red colour and a bouquet of cherry and small red fruits. Soft and enveloping tannins, together with a pleasant freshness, give great elegance to this typical Tuscan wine.
