Montereggi wine, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon of Villa Bibbiani, takes its name from the Etruscan archaeological site, located within the estate, on which our vineyards overlook. The archeological excavations have brought to light that viticulture was already practiced in the fourth century BC.

The vinification of Montereggi occurs in our barrel cellar. It stays in steel tanks for a period varying from fifteen to twenty days during which only gentle punch-downs are carried out. The mechanical punching down through a mechanical arm reproduces the method of ancient manual processwith sticks. After malolactic fermentation in steel, a period of ageing in wood follows. Montereggi wine ages for an eight-month period in French oak barriques followed by six months in 25 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels.

The result is a wine with an intense colour and a full and deep body that already suggests its complexity to the nose with hints of roasted coffee and cocoa. Montereggi is a wine with great personality suitable to be tasted even after a few years of aging.
