Last September, we attended an event at God Save the Wine in Florence, at the Obicà restaurant. We took the invitation from Andrea Gori, the “computer sommelier” and organization of the event with great enthusiasm. Throughout the event, we talked about our cellar and presented our wines. The testimony of Simone Pezzatini, marketing director of Villa Bibbiani, conducted an interview that outlined the winery’s path to date and anticipated in the next steps to make Villa Bibbiani become a point of reference in the wine world.

During the interview, Pezzatini explains why Villa Bibbiani, a company that has only been in the scene a few months ago, already knows how to serve such high-quality wines: because behind the Chianti Montalbano and all the other labels of the winery, there are a thousand years of long history. Since the time of the Etruscans, followed by the medieval monks and then to the Lombards – the area has been involved in the vineyard and its excellent products. The original vine is naturally Sangiovese, but Cabernet Sauvignon has also been present since the 1400s, so much so that it is considered for quality like the typical grapes of the area.

The Villa Bibbiani estate has been owned by George Mc Carroll Rapier III since 2018. Falling in love with the land, the American entrepreneur decided to establish his residence here, renovating the villa and the cellars and resuming the production of both wine and oil with the idea of preserving the territory and enhancing it. He has invested both in the vineyards and in the cellar, producing a wine that respects tradition but with cutting-edge winemaking techniques and all the necessary precautions to make premium and elegant products.

In this particular year, the challenge was to introduce itself to consumers and increase the production areas with the additional twenty hectares of vineyards. The result in the glass of our Sangiovese speaks for itself, but combining traditional Tuscan dishes, from cured meats to cheeses and from local meats to fresh pasta makes the experience unforgettable.
